What it is: CFT is a repository of reclaimed narratives. It is about being a woman and being out in the world. It is about finding power, rage, joy, and peace at the intersection of the personal and the political. It is about whatever I may think about on any given day, which vacillates wildly between the sensible and absurd.
Who I am: My name is Marcelle Beaulieu. I was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, and raised in New Orleans. I spent my twenties in academia, researching and writing about U.S. immigration policy (yikes). I spent my early thirties as a waitress and my late thirties trolling the halls of the Louisiana Legislator as the policy analyst of the Speaker Pro Tempore. I have spent the last five years building Louisianahbrah, a community dedicated to creating progressive policies in Louisiana—a Sisyphean yet v necessary task.
I have worn glasses chains since childhood. I don’t understand basic concepts like four-wheel drive, but I can write you a dissertation on banana daqs. I have been a solo traveler for more than half my life, and I am earnest as hell. My last name is pronounced like polio with a B.
My hope: is to create a space that finds the mystical in the mundane, and maybe also talk about Nicholas Cage sometimes.
